Fiji (2015 – 2017)

Pacific Island Countries and Territories have very fragile ecosystems which are particularly sensitive to pesticide contamination. Under the technical umbrella of the Secretariat for the Pacific Community (SPC) and with support from FAO, countries in the Pacific have been discussing ways to strengthen pesticide registration through regional collaboration and harmonization.

Falconsult has been involved in the elaboration of a regional pesticide registration scheme for the Pacific. The regional scheme will support Pacific Island Countries in conducting technical evaluations of pesticides, and so support national pesticide registration authorities in informed decision making

We also conducted training for pesticide regulatory staff from Pacific Island Countries and from the SPC on pesticide registration procedures as well as on human health and environmental risk assessment.
